The Play
This dramatisation of the classic novel by Muriel Spark follows the class of Miss Jean Brodie from their arrival at Marcia Blaine's School for Girls, through to their final year. The play quaetions the role of a teacher, and as time passes the girl's learn that their role model is often as confused about issues as they are. Caught between the expectations of 1930's society and her own desire for "Beauty, Art and Truth", Brodie finds herself trapped. She sacrifices relationships for "her girls" but compensates by vicariously living through their young, impressionable minds.
