The Play

A performance that featured three short Irish plays from the start of the twentieth century, "Cathleen Ni'Houlihan", "The Only Jealousy of Emer" and "Riders to the Sea", pinned together by Irish political poetry of the era, particularly that of W.B.Yeats. The title of the project was drawn from the beautiful Yeats poem " The Lake Isle of Innisfree", which was one of a number set to music within the piece. Several key themes informed the devising process on the course, including the suffering of Ireland 's Women, the notion of the Irish Hero king and the emerging sense of Irish Nationalism at the time of the plays.
