What will happen on the day?
Our staff team will meet you, you'll be asked to sign in and will be assigned a number. We ask that we take a photograph of you which will be deleted after the audition process (so we can identify you).
Performers will take part in a workshop style audition. You don't need to prepare anything, just be yourself. Please wear clothes you can move in.
Production students will also take part in a creative and technical workshop. You don't need to bring anything, just be yourself. Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
What am I actually auditioning to be part of?
WGYTC is nearly 50 years old. In that time we have found hundreds of young people, just like you who are creative, curious and want to be part of something special.
If you are successful in your audition, you will join our CORE COMPANY. This means you are a member until you are 21, and will receive invitations to join us on our bi-annual residential courses.
On these residential courses, we live together for 1- 2 weeks, rehearsing a production (or two, or three!) and at the end of the process, perform a professional quality production. You will also be invited to non residential rehearsals and other activities throughout the year.
One of the most special parts of WGYTC is the relationships that form. Friends for life is a common outcome.
We pride ourselves on developing 'good humans'. Want to build your confidence? Want to try something new? Want to challenge yourself? Then come and meet us.
What are the costs?
Auditions are FREE.
Each residential course costs £300. This includes the residential stay (food and board), rehearsals and production costs.
We never want financial circumstances to be a barrier to anyone who wants to take part, and we can discuss options of financial assistance to cover all or part of course fees on a case by case basis.
Great, sign me up!
