Are you interested in becoming involved with wgytc?

If you'd like to join wgytc you can either do this by joining our outreach classes, or becoming a core company member.

outreach is open to anyone aged 11-21 without an audition. It is non residential and classes take place weekly during term time. Each term costs £60. Please see our outreach page for more details.

core company is open to anyone aged 13-21 living in South Wales. Productions take place twice a year and the rehearsal period is residential. Admission is by audition which take place once a year, during the autumn. Each course costs £300. You can sign up for updates to be notified of the next round of auditions.

The company is made up of performance and production students.

Performance students are given the opportunity to develop a range of skills including acting, text work, movement, singing and voice. Students at wgytc work with professional directors, choreographers, musical directors and visiting workshop leaders. Past students have gone on to train at various prestigious drama college and universities including RADA, LAMDA, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Bristol Old Vic.

Production students are given the opportunity to work in a range of roles including stage management, set design, prop making, set construction, scenic art, costume design and making, wardrobe management, lighting design, rigging and plotting, and sound design, rigging and plotting. As well as working on productions, production students attend workshops with visiting specialist theatre practitioners and work alongside industry professionals. wgytc production students regularly go on to work in high profile roles within the industry including international concert tours, West End and regional theatre, television and large scale events.
